First , Base : Eye Edition

howdy peeps. so yeah. obviously this is a continuation from yesterday's First Base series. still on the topic of kepentingan bases / primers, cuma hari ni versi mata / eyeshadow la pulak. selalunya la kan, bila kita nak beli eyeshadow, kita selalu check pigmentation eyeshadow tu kan? kita selalu ingat, kalau brand murah, mesti eyeshadow dia tak best. kaler tak tahan lama lah, kaler tak terang lah, dan macam-macam lagi.

tapi percaya tak kalau i cakap, sometimes it doesnt really matter what brand of eyeshadow you buy and use (as long as bukan yang uber cheap kat kedai rm2 tu la. yang sapu semua berderai jatuh atas pipi..) as long as you have a good primer underneath, it will all turn up all right.

take me for instance. i dont own any MAC eyeshadow (or not yet huhuhu), what i own are mostly the normal eyeshadow from normal drugstore and sometimes brandless ones. to some (an even myself memula dulu), orang kata eyeshadow takde jenama ni tak tahan lama lah, kaler tak terang lah, and macam2.. but i've found a way to make it work. i ni tamak orangnya.. bila nak something, nak banyak2.. manala larat nak beli MAC's eyeshadow seketul2 kan. mahal pulak tu. nanti lah, next entry i tunjuk my eyeshadow collection. beratus colors with 1/3 of MAC eyeshadow punya harga. most are even better than MAC and the pigmentation pergghhh... sebatu dah boleh nampak ! hohoho

and i digress...

okay so just like your face, an eyeshadow primer creates this seamless and smooth eyelid surface so that :

• color sticks on your lid better
• color lasts wayyyy longer
• a MUST for those yang ada oily lids. it leavess your lids matte
• primer also intensifies the pigmentation of your eyeshadow
• eliminates creasing (line kat mata korang bila dah beberapa jam pakai eye shadow)
• eliminate droppings kat pipi / bawah mata masa make up application
• makes blending of eyeshadow easier

but i've never tried any of them so i cant rate and comment

i, on the other hand, guna Urban Decay's Eye Shadow Primer Potion. kawan paling dekat to compare it with is the Too Faced Shadow Insurance, but i like the texture of UDPP better. not as sticky as the Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

this UDPP is not widely available in Malaysia. you cant find them in stores just yet, but i know some people who are selling them and its retailing at about RM80 lebih kurang kalau i tak silap. i got this one for USD18 (Sephora) the best primer EVER CREATED on the face of this planet earth and then some! it has this creamy nude color with not so thick consistency. not being too thick is important, as thick primer will end up creasing your lids. its easily absorbed by your skin, turning colorless and transparent and leaves your skin matte and ready for some color action!

another good base is this one from NYX. cheaper than UDPP, but also not available in malaysian stores just yet. but you can get it here from my Malaysian tokan (hahahaha) for less than RM30 and its available in 3 colors. white, pearl (to give your shadow that lovely sheen) and nude. mine is in Nude, tapi terlupa nak amik gambar dengan penutup terbukak. this primer works just fine BUT its a little bit on the thick side. so make sure you blend blend blend with your fingers well before slapping on yer eyeshadow.

the other good NYX product is the Jumbo Eye Pencil. this JEP is basically an eye crayon and they come in berbelas2 colors, with or without glitter. you use them as a base to whatever color you decide to put on and it'll intensify it 4x over. hahaha. but this one pun kena pakai in moderation. too much of it and your eyeshadow will crease. but this formulation tak sepekat Eyeshadow Base di atas, and can be worn alone on your eyes, provided you dap it with a little powder to prevent it from running. i have 10 of these JEP in various colors, but i've depotted them into a pill case tapi i terlupa nak snap gambar. nanti lah, kalau i rajin i buat eyeshadow series and i'll post them here. owh before i terlupa, JEP putih bagus untuk meng-lite kan color eyeshadow yang kita nak pakai. contoh : kita pakai JEP warna putih dengan eyeshadow warna hitam and eyeshadow kita akan nampak lebih ke-grey2 an dan kalau kita pakai JEP hitam and then eyeshadow purple (for example), warna purple tu akan nampak lebih gelap and deep.

and in the meantime, janganlah tak pakai eyeshadow pulak semata2 sebab takde eyeshadow primer. you dont have to spend money semata2 nak beli UDPP yang berharga almost RM100 kalau setakat pakai eyeshadow time ada kenduri kawen or dinner pejabat je. betul tak? to those yang pakai eyeshadow sekali sekala dan bukan hari2 macam i yang gila kuasa ni, i rekemen korang guna sedikit concealer di kelopak mata and the key is to blend it well into the skin for it to work ya. and please use a non oily formulation. and oily one will only accentuate the oily problem yang kita sebutkan tadi.

any concealer will do as long as its a good non oily ones ya kawan2..
